Jude S. Sauer M.D.
President & CEO

Dr. Sauer has dedicated his career to the research and development of technology and techniques for less invasive surgery to expedite the delivery of optimized therapeutic outcomes, while reducing pain and recovery times. After receiving a BA in German literature and earning early selection into medical school, he began training as a General Surgery resident at the University of Rochester and founded LSI SOLUTIONS® (1986), now in Victor, New York, where he is still the leading inventor / writer / scientist, and President and CEO. He established LSI EUROPE™ (2020) in Dusseldorf Germany, and his companies employ 500+ people who manufacture 75+ surgical products. LSI technology has helped more than 1 million patients in 80+ countries so far.

Dr. Sauer has received multiple honors, including induction into the Rochester Business Hall of Fame, the URMC Charles Force Hutchison and Marjorie Smith Hutchison Medal, Health Care Achievement Award 2013: Innovation, Rochester Intellectual Property Law Association’s 2003 Distinguished Inventor of the Year Award, and the Ernst & Young Health Sciences Entrepreneur of the Year Award® 2001, along with three International Medical Design Excellence Awards.

Dr. Sauer completed multiple research fellowships across the world and was the Principal Investigator in 8 NIH, Department of Defense, and New York State surgical research grants. His key areas of interest include gynecologic, urologic, and bariatric surgery, with a primary focus on cardiac surgery. He has authored 23 scientific papers, was an invited speaker and presenter at 40 scientific conferences and has been granted 150+ patents. Dr. Sauer’s first book chapter, “Innovation in Cardiac Surgery: It Takes a Village: Our Team’s Story: A Quest for Routine Sternal-Sparing CABG,” was recently published in the Endoscopic Cardiac Surgery: Tips, Tricks and Traps (2023).
