FOR PATIENTS

What is minimally invasive aortic valve replacement (AVR)?

AVR procedures help patients by removing a malfunctioning aortic valve and implanting a prosthetic replacement. Conventional AVR uses a large, highly invasive sternotomy incision. Minimally invasive approaches use smaller access incisions, targeting less pain, a shorter hospital stay, and a quicker recovery.

What is the difference between minimally invasive AVR and micro-invasive AVR (µAVR™)?

Microinvasive approaches can provide the best durable results with the least amount of trauma. RAM® µAVR™ Procedures use tiny incisions between the ribs to avoid injuring bone and cartilage, with innovative adjunctive technology to further minimize invasiveness. With LSI technology, surgeons have additional options for providing optimized patient outcomes.
